Toppling a Tour de France Dynasty

In what promises to be one of the most dynamic and exciting Tour de France races in current history, Team Jumbo Visma has its eyes on the yellow jersey. The Dutch team comes into the 2020 Tour as a favorite and is looking to upset the yellow-jersey dynasty of Team Ineos.

Jumbo Visma heads to Nice for the Tour's Grand Depart with a strong and well-rounded lineup of eight riders. Primož Roglič established himself as the man to beat for yellow this year with solid opening races this season and a clear focus the podium in France. But Roglič isn’t the team’s only capable GC contender. 2017 Time Trial World Champion and Giro d’Italia GC winner Tom Dumoulin offers valuable GC strength and experience and will also have his eyes on the decisive Stage 20 ITT.

"I like the time trial because it's really about individual strength, so the strongest wins," says Dumoulin. “But it’s not only the strongest but also the one who has all the details in order, like aerodynamics, speed at the right time, and power at the right time.”

Wout van Aert also headlines this year's Tour de France team lineup. With wins at Strade Bianche and Milan San Remo already this season, the former cyclocross world champion brings speed and youthful energy to Jumbo Visma’s team dynamic and will play a vital role as a superdomestique to the team’s GC contenders.

Starting in the southern province of Nice, the 2020 Tour de France visits all five major mountain ranges across the country. The route does not include any iconic mountain-top finishes like Alpe d’Huez or Col du Tourmalet, but the course is mountainous and delivers a wide variety of climbs to challenged riders from every direction. The race covers a total of 3,470 kilometers throughout 21 stages as riders make their way toward Paris.

In the penultimate stage of the 2020 Tour de France, those in the hunt for yellow will have one final chance to seal their fate with a grueling 36.2-kilometer individual time trial that finishes atop La Planche des Belles Filles. Here, Team Jumbo Visma will put Lazer’s new ultra-fast Volante time trial helmet to use.

“To achieve the best time trial, equipment is incredibly important because you want to go as fast as possible with the least possible effort,” says Mathieu Heijboer, Jumbo Visma’s Head of Performance. “If you can make the helmet faster, it’s free gain because you don’t have to push harder, you just go faster.”

The Volante helmet delivers unmatched technological and aerodynamic advantages with an optimized shape to maximize performance from every angle. The magnetic panoramic lens provides crystal clear vision and protection and integrates seamlessly with the helmet for optimal aerodynamics. Also new for the Volante helmet is Lazer’s Turnfit® Tilt System that allows riders to adjust the tilt of the helmet to perfectly align with the rider’s time trial position.

As one of the favorite teams to win the 2020 Tour de France, Team Jumbo Visma is determined to deliver a tactical and aggressive race from start to finish. Combining the best equipment with top technology and with its strongest roster to date, the Dutch team is focused on securing yellow this September and ushering in a new era with a Tour de France victory.
